Ottawa, ON, August 20th, 2010 — The Ottawa International Film Festival’s Music Video Challenge took place last night at Lieutenant’s Pump. A total of 11 videos were in the running to be the first winner of the Festival’s inaugural year.
“All the final entries were strong, but a few stood out from the pack. We are happy to announce ‘Bike’ by Adam Saikaley as the 2010 OIFF Music Video Challenge winner”, said Peter Simpson, Arts Editor of the Ottawa Citizen and the MC for the Challenge. The panel of judges included A-Channel Morning Show host Bill Wylechka; Juno award winner Drew Nelson; owner of Spaceman music Tom Stewart; and TV personality and
42 Crichton Street Fine Foods owner Susan Jessup.
Eric Leece, Luke Ciesielski and Matt Zhuk directed the video ‘Bike’. “We incorporated the lyrics of the song to show that life is short and we have to appreciate every moment. We wanted to show the movement of the bike as a metaphor for life,” said Luke Ciesielski. Runner-up was the video for the song “Running” by Katrina Robert, directed byAndrew Alexander and produced by Bonnie Robinson, HELL YOW Productions.
OIFF runs from August 19th – 22nd 2010. The remainder of the festival will be held at the Mayfair Theatre on Bank Street and will showcase short and feature films from Canadian and international filmmakers.
